The competition "redevelopment of the traffic island via Volturno - via S.Bolsamo" involves the design of a triangular area that has an important role respect flows of pedestrian crossing between via Volturno and via Balsamo and the nearby Palace of Justice. The area is also used as a stopping point for tourist buses to allow the visit of the nearly Mercato del Capo. The design idea is to collect both functions in a sort of microcosm in which the natural elements, sun, wind, and water determine the choices of materials and forms to be used. This concept is translated into reality through three leaves inclined (each planted with different aromatic and ornamental plants: lavender, sage, rosemary) that develop on the three corners of the project area and converge in a central space where seating elements are placed, shaded by green pergolas and a small water mirror at the base of one of sittings. For the redevelopment of the island is thought to employ recycled materials and low cost.
